Ashford Castle, begun around 1200 A.D. At one point owned by the Guinness family. Today, a hotel. (l)

 

 

Cong Abbey, founded on 1120 A.D. by Turlough Mor O'Connor, high king of Ireland. (s)

 

 

Kylemore Abbey, today functioning as a boarding school (s)

 

 

Muckross Abbey in Killarney National Park, founded in 1448 and torched by Cromwell's troops in 1652. (s)
